| Pus - microscopy and culture obtained by aspiration under diagnostic imaging guidance. Blood cultures; FBC, CRP or ESR; AST, ALT, ALP. |
Amoebic infection | If amoebic abscess is suspected in a patient from an endemic area, Entamoeba histolytica antibodies should be done urgently to avoid unnecessary aspiration. |
