Hepatitis E virus antibodies.

Urinalysis; bilirubin, AST, ALT, ALP; FBC.

Outbreaks have been described in India, Pakistan, Russia, China, Central and Northern Africa, Peru and Mexico.

Sporadic disease occasionally occurs in non-endemic areas.

Acute hepatitis

Whilst prolonged jaundice can occur, chronic hepatitis does not occur, nor is there a carrier state.
