CausesAppropriate Tests

Sputum microscopy and culture including culture for mycobacteria and fungi.

Solitary

Sputum cytology; bronchial brush, wash; bronchoalveolar lavage for cytology and/or microbiological testing.

FNAB, bronchial biopsy, lung biopsy (lesion) as appropriate, with microbiological testing if indicated.
