More than 12 months amenorrhoea is needed to confirm the diagnosis.

Endocrine tests are rarely needed, unless premature ovarian failure is suspected.

Oestradiol and progesterone are not indicated if LH and FSH are elevated.

Hormone replacement therapy 

Synthetic oestrogens cannot be monitored with oestradiol.
