FBC, differential WCC, blood film. Electrolytes, creatinine, urea, bilirubin, ALP, GGT, LD, AST/ALT.

Cause

Staphylococcus aureus

Genital swab (vaginal) or wound swab as appropriate - microscopy and culture; blood culture.

Streptococcus pyogenes

Wound swab or swab of lesion or vesicle aspirate; blood culture.

Manifestations

Diarrhoea
Hepatic failure
Renal failure - acute
Respiratory distress syndrome
Confusion
