CausesAppropriate Tests

Genital swab (urethral) for microscopy and culture (including Neisseria gonorrhoeae).
Urethral swab or initial stream urine for Chlamydia trachomatis detection and PCR for Neisseria gonorrhoeae; virus detection, culture (for HSV)
if indicated.
Culture for genital mycoplasmas is not routinely performed.
