Specimen

Patient should empty bladder then drink a large glass of water.

Collect urine one hour later and deliver promptly to the laboratory.

Method

Immunoassay.

Reference Interval

<0.2 mg/L.

<30 mg/mol creatinine.

Application

Ancillary test, of limited clinical utility, in the investigation of renal tubulo-interstitial disorders.

Interpretation

Elevated levels may help to define the degree of tubular dysfunction.
